THERAPEUTIC APPROACHES

There is no "one size fits all" when it comes to counseling. With that considered here are the blends of therapy approaches you can expect to be a part of during counseling sessions at Evolving Mind and Body:

• Solution Focused Therapy: Also known as Solution Focused Brief Therapy, this is a goal directed, collaborative approach to therapeutic change. This technique focuses on helping you to evolve by working on solutions rather than focusing on problems. This type of therapy tries to focus on hope, being future-oriented, and motivation.

• Ecotherapy: Also known as Nature Therapy is the practice of being in nature to boost growth and healing, especially mental health.  Research suggests that spending time in natural environments can be linked to many benefits. For example, being in a green space has been linked to less anxiety, fewer depression symptoms, and lower stress levels. Spending time in nature also helps people with attention problems think more clearly.  The amount of physical activity you’ll get in ecotherapy varies to meet you in your journey.  

• Trauma-Informed Care (TIC):  As a Trauma-Informed Care clinician, I  understand and consider the pervasive nature of trauma and promote environments of healing and recovery rather than practices and services that may inadvertently re-traumatize.  Trauma-Informed Care follows five guiding principles; safety, choice, collaboration, trustworthiness and empowerment. At Evolving Mind and Body, I create a physically and emotionally safe environment, establish trust and boundaries, support autonomy and choice, create collaborative relationships and participation opportunities and use a strengths and empowerment-focused perspective to promote resilience. 

MODALITIES OF TREATMENT

• Individual Counseling: Evolving Mind and Body works with individuals who are looking to feel empowered to develop perspectives, change self-defeating behaviors, and create a more fulfilling and balanced life by processing past and current life events and learn and develop skills to positively impact interactions with self and others. 

• Teen Counseling: Adolescence can often be a time of pain and distress. Finding the right person to help your teenager cope with anxieties, responsibilities, and navigating changes through life's transitions can be a challenge. I value a trusting relationship in a safe environment, where teens can feel free to express their feelings and learn to effectively communicate to their families, friends, community and selves while exercising their individuality.

• Telehealth Sessions: Can't make it to an in-person session? Feel more comfortable meeting virtually? Perhaps meeting via telehealth is the right option for you. Easy, comfortable, and just as effective as in-person therapy.  Meeting via video is a wonderful way to receive services. Telehealth technology allows us to conduct a secure video session using your phone, tablet, or computer through my client portal. 

• Nature Based Sessions: Sessions held in a "green" space or in the office with natural items.  This practice allows for experiencing the benefits of nature, processing emotions and thoughts and connecting mind to body.

• Therapeutic Rucking: We all carry the weight of life with us everyday. Therapeutic Rucking helps to bring physical and emotional awareness together in the moment to process this weight of life. This is a 1:1, couple or small group opportunity to connect with nature while carrying a weighted ruck of 5+ pounds for varying durations and grades of terrain, complete individual and group challenges and have open discussions. These sessions are limited to preselected dates and are held independent of the weather.  If interested in joining a Therapeutic Ruck please contact me or watch for an upcoming event.

• Reiki:  Reiki is an ancient Japanese healing technique that is delivered through a gentle laying of hands or hands near the body. It aims to clear and balance the body's energy centers, remove blockages and increase the recipient's natural healing capacity. Individual and group Reiki sessions are a nurturing, safe space where you can access a state of deep rest and relaxation. Sessions are available in person or distance at my office , virtually, in green space or during therapeutic rucking.

Adult Therapy Intake Session (1 hour) = insurance submission/self-pay, $195

Adult Therapy Session (1 hour) = insurance submission/self-pay, $145

Teen (15+) Therapy Intake Session (1 hour) = insurance submission/self-pay, $195

Teen (15+) Therapy Session (1 hour) = insurance submission/self-pay, $145

* Intake appointments are required before therapy sessions are scheduled.

Therapeutic Ruck (3+ hours) = self-pay only via Square, rate varies based on event

Special Events (range in length of time) = self-pay only based on event information, rate varies based on event

Reiki (30 mins to 1 Hour) = self-pay only via Square, $44 for 30 mins or $88 for 1 hour. 

* If you need to cancel an appointment, please provide at least 24 hours' notice. Cancellations with less than 24 hour notice are subject to an $80 fee and no shows will be charged a $80 fee
